Today we went over China's enduring impacts and then took a break to turn our attention to Pearl Harbor.  We watched the following short YouTube and completed a short daily assignment.

What are your general reactions to what you learned in class today?

The South Pacific is the closest military base to Japan, and that's why them bombed Pearl Harbor opposed to any other military base.
But, the reason that they bombed Pearl Harbor, was to prevent the U.S. from joining the Japanese War, but it had the opposite effect.

Every time I watched the movie Pearl Harbor, I was scared. It was so vivid. Now that I looked at the REAL video, I was shocked.

I think that this video was sad because all those American soldiers died trying to protect their country. I also didn't understand why the Japanese had to attack America and get them involved with everything.

I think that the Japanese bombing pearl harbor is so sad and I can barley even imagine seeing it in person. Those soldiers were probably really brave to go into the war.

I think that it is a horrible thing to do. It is scary to think that it happened in America and there is a chance that it could happen again. I'm still not sure why the Japanese decided to bomb Pearl Harbor instead of any other state or area. If they attacked at a different time would the U.S be more prepared or would anything change?

This was a terrible event that ended with drastic effects. If anything like this ever happened again, I do not know what i would do. Probably in instinct, I would run away but I do not know.

What happened to Pearl Harbor was very sad. I wished that Japan didn't bomb Pearl Harbor in the first place. I feel so bad for the people who died and also for the people who lost their loved ones.
