Blogging--Kids started

11/3/2010

Today, students who had turned in a permission slip (handed out on 10/25--extra copies provided each day) began to create their own websites much like this one.  However, as the permission slip stated, these are password protected.  Please get the password from your child and visit their site on and off to see the work they are doing.

Already, five or six kids have uploaded their "What was seventh grade like?" movie, youtube clips on Digital Footprints or Did you Know.  I was impressed--and very tired-- by the word they achieved in 32 minutes.  I hope the blogs engage and help students see the interconnectedness of the work they are doing.  A few images from student pages already.

Students and parents: If you have a second, let me know what you think of the blog spots, by leaving a comment.

These blogs are cool because we can upload things or pictures of monuments that we've seen and our peers can see too.

I think that the blogs are a great way to show what we have learned so far this year in Social Studies. They are also a creative, enjoyable way to learn.

I think that this blog is a great idea and can't wait to get started with it. Blogs are a great way to show how and what we've learned this year and, as Grant said, a creative, enjoyable way to learn!

I think that the blog is a great idea because we can share our thoughts with what we are learning about. Also this can help us study for tests because for some people writing things down helps them learn it better

The student blog is a great way to show what we have learned so far in this school year. I have never done something like this before so it will be very fun and educational!

I wish that I turned in my sheet on time because creating, and writing on a blog seems fun, and you can be creative with history.

I think these blogs are a great way to teach us history without going word for word out of our history book, which we(luckily) rarely use. You get us to want to learn history and we get to do what we want, with restrictions. It's a win-win situation.

I think the blogs are cool and we can learn new things on the blogs. It's kind of cool having my own blog.
