Introduction
Middle Ages: Will you Survive?
The year is A.D. 475 and the Roman Empire controls all of Europe. The city of Rome is a beacon of light and safety across a troubled continent. As a European, The Roman government gives you your cultural identity, law and order. Within one year, invading tribes of Germanic barbarians sac the city of Rome and overthrow the government. Buildings are destroyed, books are burned, people are murdered, the government collapses and chaos spreads throughout the Empire. Laws are forgotten, trade routes disappear and you are no longer sure of what tomorrow may bring! Who will protect you? How will you support your family? How will you carry on with life when the lights go out!

During this webquest you will role-play a person living during this time period (Remember you won’t die of old age, but live for the entire middle ages). You are to become them. As you study and complete different tasks about the middle ages you will record facts, details and stories of life for you in a journal or your online blog. The more details you find about your society and your life the more you will have to say.

Conclusion

Humanism replaces religion, parliaments replace Feudalism, cities replace manors, and order is restored to Europe. You have endured war, disease and ignorance. The world waits, holding it’s collective breath eager to face new challenges barely visible across the horizon.
