Over the last few days we have talked about what essential questions are, how they impact us and why they are important to our learning.

We all have essential questions we think about today, we are going to write them down and share with each other these questions with the hope that we can use these essential questions to drive our learning this year.

Before you begin watch this slide show, by Betsy Streeter,  about WHAT IF.....

If the slide show is blocked at school, you can download a pdf file of the slideshow  and watch on your computer.

After watching Drew Dudley's "Leading with Lollipops" students were asked for three words to describe leadership.  Here is 90 kids answers.

The clips below we saw in class.  Thinking about what you learned, answer one of the following questions by leaving a comment (first name and bms).

What did you learn about leadership?
What did you learn about changing the way things are in our world?
What did you do this weekend that would be an example of lollipop leadership?
What changes will you make in yourself to be a better leader?
Any other comment you might want to share.

Today, I will be leaving at 11:00.  My daughter, Hanna, will be receiving an award today by the Mayor of Kent and Superintendent of Kent City Schools.  It is something I can not miss, but wish it was not during the first few weeks of school. Therefore, I am breaking from my original plan and getting some minor tasks out of the way today.  Sorry, we will get on track tomorrow.  Mr. H

Complete the following:  for question 3-8 put your answers on a word doc and save to your social studies folder.  If you do not have a laptop, work with another person and put both names on the assignment.

1.  Get books from Library: these are to go home as a reference.  YOU DO NOT NEED TO CARRY THEM BACK and FORTH to School.  I have a class set if need.

2.  Complete the computer survey form:  click this link.
If you are working with someone who does not have a computer, fill it in twice with other students name.  MAKE sure you hit submit at the bottom.

3.  Add bookmarks to your browsers (all browsers) on your laptop.
- Open a word document
- Put names of students working on this
- View each site below and tell me what the site can be used for and what are you thoughts about the site.
a.  http://www.7thgradebms.weebly.com

b. http://www.studentsfortomorrow.net

c.  http://dgh.wikispaces.com
Use the online book for question 4-7:
4. Tell me the names of the books about this class room?  Who wrote the books?
5. What famous person twitted about the online book?
6. View the   Our Refrigerator page and describe your thoughts on the projects you are seeing?
7. Pick one page to preview of the book and describe what you learned?
8.  What are you most looking forward to doing with your laptop?
