Well students of CMS, the year is almost done.  In one short week you will officially be eighth graders!  You guys have done a great job this year and hopefully you take the skills and lessons learned with you the rest of your life.  Remember, always set big goals, hold yourself responsible for reaching those goals and never stop expecting more from your education.

Below is a short survey concerning social studies class and CMS in general.  The answers to this survey help Mr. Holman and I reflect on how we teach.  It also helps me began conversations with the school district about changes that could be made to help your learning experience be even better!  This, like all the surveys we have completed this year, is YOUR chance to have an active voice in your education.
Thanks for a great school year!

We have been working on the the details and facts about the Renaissance.  Over the last two days we discussed and viewed several films about the world we are living in and how people in 1000 years will view this period.

Your blog for the Renaissance needs to do the following:

1.  Explain the Renaissance of  the 1400's.
2.  Pick two ways society (1400's) has changed and explain the changes that occurred.

SOME ideas you could use for #2 are,  humanism, art, science, technology, education, spread of ideas, trade and travel, and more...
3.  Answer with details and facts the question: Are we living in a modern Renaissance?

For full points use:
Paragraph with Picture
Explain your answers to questions 1-3 in paragraph form.
Provide one interactive for question #2 and one interactive for question number #3.

Have this posted by Tuesday April 30th at 7:45 AM to your website.

CMS: Working Hard for our Money

Today we will continue our discussion of how urbanization in the Renaissance effects us today.  We will look at the socioeconomic of that time and our time.  Below is the link you will need to start exploring what it really means to "work" in this country and where those jobs fit into our monetary-based class system.  It isn't an exact science, but hopefully it will offer you a greater understanding of our economy.  An economy that is an enduring impact of the Renaissance.

Use the link below (click on the orange text) to see where different careers fall in our class system.  There are also links you can use to factor the price of certain "everyday" items that you will need as an adult.  Remember not to spend outside of your class!  To find our what your monthly income would be, simply divide your salary by 12.
