Living in a Lab

Monday students at CMS walked into see what was their social studies classroom had finally been transformed into their window to the world.  The laptops are up and running!

Over the last few days we took a step back and began to develop the foundations for a new method of teaching and learning.  Technology in the classroom is not about typing papers and researching via Google.  My goal is to create independent learners that can harness 21st Century Skills to retrieve, review, edit, collaborate and manipulate information in order to see their world with new eyes.

We have established our Bubbl accounts, students will be introduced to Diigo in the next few days and next week we will take a deep look at how to be great digital citizens who leave positive digital footprints.

I can't wait to set up skype accounts. I already have one, and I love using it to chat with other people. The problem is that most my friends don't have skype, but that will change once Mr. Pennington shows 7A how to sign up.

Bubbl is a good tool to use. I think that we could use skype or somehting like that to message each other throughtout the classroom. Its better than shouting to eachother
